What a privilege it is for me to serve as Principal of Hyde Park Baptist Elementary School! It gives me joy to greet the students and parents as they arrive at school in the mornings. This special time with the students reminds me of our responsibility to prepare each of them for the future, both academically and spiritually. We live in an ever-changing world. As the demands of our society change, so do the skills needed by students. To be prepared for the twenty-first century our students need training in technology and computers, an understanding of mathematical concepts, a knowledge of world societies and foreign languages, and skills in higher-level reasoning and effective written and oral communication. Hyde Park Baptist Elementary School strives to produce students who have Christian values and who have developed their ability to think and solve problems.

I take seriously the responsibility to help our students grow spiritually. We have the privilege of beginning the day with prayer. We study the Bible, memorize scriptures, and attend weekly Chapel where we sing and worship the Lord. Our students also have opportunities to participate in mission projects to help others. Building Christian character in our students helps prepare them to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Our students are blessed with caring and dedicated faculty members who are degreed and certified in their area of teaching.  Most of our teachers are also Gifted and Talented certified.  I am a Texas certified teacher, certified principal and certified curriculum supervisor. I have earned my doctorate degree in educational administration and curriculum from the University of Texas at Austin. I feel called to do the work I do, and gain great satisfaction from helping our students strive to reach their fullest potential.

Parents are our partners in their children’s education. New families are warmly welcomed and given opportunities to become involved in the school family.
