Dear Hyde Park Family,

I am so pleased to call myself a member of the Hyde Park Family this year! I want to take this opportunity to personally welcome you to the 2010-2011 school year, and to tell you a little about myself as we begin this year’s journey together.

Throughout my career, I have always enjoyed watching and participating in every aspect of students’ growth. My education background includes an Ed. D. in Educational Administration from East Texas State University; an M. Ed. in Educational Administration and a B.S. in Political Science from Stephen F. Austin University; and additional complementary studies in curriculum and administration at University of Houston and Arizona State University. I began my career as a classroom teacher. When asked to identify one of my favorite positions that I have held during my educational career, I would have to say that teaching Government was a highlight. Since that time, I’ve served in a number of administration positions, including Superintendent in Cleburne and Bonham, and most recently Superintendent of Schools for Comal Independent School District in New Braunfels, a district serving 12,000 students. Whether interacting with students as a classroom teacher or with families as the superintendent, I find that students bring true joy into life.

One reason I so enjoy working with students and their families is because of my own family. My wife Karen and I have been married for 36 years and have three grown children. Our family’s interests are diverse, but our foundation is built on the Lord. Just as I have enjoyed helping our children achieve success academically and spiritually, I hope to partner with your family in doing the same for your children.

I look forward to this year at Hyde Park to utilize my experience in education and my passion for serving students and families. The strong forty year history of Hyde Park provides a firm foundation on which to build a dynamic new future.

Best regards,
Jim Grunert
Superintendent, Hyde Park Baptist Schools
