Hyde Park Baptist Schools began as a Child Development Center (CDC) in 1968. In the fall of 1968, a Kindergarten began for 5 year olds, and the school began to add one grade per year until it reached Sixth Grade. As the school began to grow, it separated from the CDC and formed the Hyde Park Baptist School system. Located in the Hyde Park neighborhood near the University of Texas, the HP Elementary School’s mission was to provide the opportunity for an excellent Christian education to the Austin community. HP Elementary was fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency in the 1970s.
HP's accredited Junior/Senior High School began in the fall of 1980. The purpose of the new secondary school was to prepare young people for college with a firm foundation built on Christ. In 2003, the HP Athletics complex opened at the Hyde Park Quarries location (located at Braker and Mopac) in Northwest Austin. In Fall 2009, the new, state of the art Hyde Park Baptist High School campus opened at the Quarries.
In keeping with its heritage of academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment, over 99% of all Hyde Park graduates go on to higher education.
